While the presence of two Pro Bowl wide receivers (Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin) in front of him might harm his chances to make the team, Arizona’s Lance Long credits the duo for helping his development.

He told USA Today’s Skip Wood:

“They’re helping me all the time, definitely. I mean, they’re so helpful that if I ever have a question about something, they’ll stay with me on the field after practice. And not only that, sometimes they’ll stop in the middle of practice, stop whatever it is they’re doing, and show me right there.”

Despite those advantages of being able to learn from two of the best, they might be the very reason Long is looking for work in a few weeks.

Arizona Republic reporter Randy Brickley answered a fan’s chat question about Long’s chances of making the team by saying:

“From the people I’ve talked to, it looks like Lance Long won’t make it. Too bad, really. He has made some nice plays.”

One of those nice plays came last night in practice, according to Darren Urban of the official Cardinals site, who noted:

“Among the other highlights under the lights: A nice diving grab of a Matt Leinart pass by Lance Long …”
