In his first game since making arguably the most spectacular play in Super Bowl history against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, our man On The Fringe David Tyree did not record a reception in the Giants’ preseason opener on Monday night.

Steve Serby of the New York Post wrote that Tyree did not get any help in his attempt to keep his job with the team:

The sentimental favorite and the special-teams demon of yesteryear, Tyree didn’t lose ground, but he desperately needed to gain ground on the Giants’ stable of young wide receivers whom general manager Jerry Reese is confident will be able to replace Plaxico Burress, and he did not.
