Further damaging David Tyree‘s chances of making the New York Giants’ final 53-man roster was an announcement Tuesday by coach Tom Coughlin that the Super Bowl hero will not play in the team’s preseason finale against the New England Patriots on Thursday.

“The medical people have decided that he’s not ready,” Coughlin said after Tyree missed his second straight workout this week.

Ever since Tyree was part of arguably the greatest play in Super Bowl history, his career has taken a turn for the worse. Tyree missed all of last season while recovering from knee surgery, and the receiver has been battling knee, groin and hamstring problems throughout training camp.

“It’s disappointing,” Tyree said Tuesday, adding he feels he can play somewhere in the league this year if the Giants release him. Full story …
