Grigsby breaks down blue-collar roots

In an interview with The Houston Chronicle quotable Texans fullback Boomer Grigsby offered up these gems:

On his background: “I’m just a crazy, wild, blue-collar country boy. And real proud to be one, too.”

On how he earned his nickname: “I came out wider than I was long, so my grandmother called me Boomer from the start. Some people grow out of their nicknames. I think I grew even more into mine. It brings a certain degree of personality and that’s why I’ll forever keep it.”

Grigsby gets additional practice reps

Houston Texans fullback Vonta Leach left camp Friday evening in order to attend to a death in the family. Boomer Grigsby and rookie tight end James Casey picked up additional practice reps in Leach’s place on Saturday. Texans coach Gary Kubiak did not indicate how much practice time Leach would miss.
